By the Prime Minister’s proposal, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan provided information about the preparations for the subsequent Armenia-Diaspora Conference to be held on 18-21 September 2014.

“The previous conference was held in 2011. This year, the leaders of more than 600 Diaspora Armenian organizations have confirmed their participation, and the process is ongoing. The conference will bring together the elite of Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora and the leaders of all pan-Armenian organizations, including the Catholicos of All Armenians, the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, the Catholic Patriarch and all the other leaders.

The opening ceremony of the conference will be held at Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet with a speech by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. The conference will include three plenary sessions and four sessions according to areas.

The agenda includes topics related to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, the key issues related to the safety of Syrian-Armenians and Armenians in emergency situations, the protection of the Armenian language and the media, as well as the perfection of mechanisms for the Armenia-Diaspora partnership.

During this conference, 120 editors from the Armenian Diaspora and representatives of Armenia’s media outlets will take part in the 7th Pan-Armenian Forum of Mass Media.

The Ministry of Diaspora is preparing for the conference along with the relevant structures, ministries and government agencies. We expect to see government officials and heads of ministries take part in the conference and the discussions,” Hranush Hakobyan said.

The government has decided that foreign citizens arriving in Armenia with the purpose of participating in the 5th Armenia-Diaspora Conference will be exempt from the state fee for the issuing of a visa.
