Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on October 29 met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo in Yerevan on the sidelines of her regional visit, the Armenian MFA told Armenpress.
Rosemary DiCarlo congratulated the FM on Armenia’s election as member to the UN Human Rights Council.
The sides highlighted making joint efforts by the international community in pushing forward the human rights.
The meeting participants discussed the ongoing reforms in Armenia aimed at improving the election processes, judicial system, fighting corruption, as well as strengthening democracy, etc. They also touched upon Armenia’s initiatives in various platforms.
The sides also discussed regional and international issues, including the situation in Syria’s north-east.
The Armenian FM introduced the guest on the recent developments in the peaceful settlement process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Both highlighted the importance of the consistent support of the UN and international community to the peaceful settlement process of the NK conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.
